The L333 King Tiger Pleco is a highly prized freshwater catfish, admired for its bold black-and-white tiger-like pattern, compact body shape, and striking appearance. Native to the clear, fast-flowing waters of the Rio Xingu basin in Brazil, this beautiful pleco is a favorite among aquarists for its dramatic coloration, peaceful temperament, and fascinating cave-dwelling behaviors. King Tiger Plecos are peaceful, shy, and primarily nocturnal fish that spend much of their time exploring caves, rockwork, and driftwood throughout the aquarium. They become more active during the evening and nighttime hours, when they emerge to forage and investigate their surroundings. Males develop broader heads, more robust bodies, and noticeable odontodes along their cheeks and pectoral fins, especially when mature. While generally peaceful, they may become territorial toward other bottom-dwelling fish when establishing preferred hiding places.

These beautiful plecos thrive in well-oxygenated aquariums with excellent water quality, moderate to strong flow, and plenty of caves and rocky shelters. Smooth stones, driftwood, and shaded areas help recreate their natural river habitat while providing essential hiding spaces. Unlike common plecos, King Tiger Plecos are primarily carnivorous and require a protein-rich diet consisting of sinking carnivore pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and other high-quality prepared foods. Occasional vegetable matter and algae-based foods can also supplement their diet.
