The Freshwater Angelfish is one of the most iconic and elegant aquarium fish, admired for its graceful swimming style, tall triangular fins, and striking variety of colors and patterns. Native to the slow-moving waters of the Amazon Basin, these beautiful cichlids bring a sense of sophistication and movement to both community and planted aquariums.

Despite their peaceful appearance, Freshwater Angelfish are cichlids and display a moderate level of territorial behavior, particularly as they mature or during breeding. They are generally compatible with other peaceful to semi-aggressive fish of similar size, including larger tetras, rainbowfish, gouramis, and peaceful catfish. Very small fish may be viewed as prey, while fin-nipping species should be avoided.

Angelfish thrive in tall aquariums with plenty of swimming space, driftwood, plants, and areas of cover. Stable water conditions and a high-quality diet are important for maintaining their health, vibrant coloration, and finnage. They readily accept flakes and pellets but benefit from supplemental frozen and live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
